Green Papaya Chicken Soup with Ginger

This popular Filipino dish is simple to make, full of flavor and proves to be a crave-worthy meal!

Ingredients  

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 yellow onion(peeled and cut into slices)
  • 0.75 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs(cut into 1 inch pieces, excess fat removed)
  • 1 each 2 inch piece ginger(peeled, sliced into fine strips)
  • 2 garlic cloves(peeled and chopped)
  • 2 quart chicken broth
  • 1 green papaya(peeled, seeded and cut into 1 inch pieces)
  • 2 tomatoes cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 cup watercress or other braising green
  • fish sauce, to taste
  • fresh calamansi or lime juice, to taste
