- 1 1" piece ginger, smashed
- 1 unit vanilla bean, scraped
- 2 star anise
- 2 lemongrass, smashed
- 0.5 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- header Apples:
- 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut in half lengthwise
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 tablespoon water, cold
