Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 5 Large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 1-14 oz. can Sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 12 oz. can Evaporated milk

Instructions

Caramel

  • In a pan over medium heat, add your sugar and water. Bring to a boil and swirl the pan around to keep from burning (do not mix).
  • When it turns to a deep amber color (about 5-10 minutes), pour into your two pans evenly so it covers the bottom.

Custard

  • In a bowl, whisk your eggs and vanilla together. Add in the sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk and mix to combine.
  • Pour 2 cups of the custard mixture through a strainer into each dish.

Bake & Set

  • Preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Cover each dish with foil and put it into a larger pan. Fill the large pan halfway up with hot water.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center still jiggles. Remove covers and cool on a wire rack until room temperature, then cover again and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

Flip & Enjoy

  • Carefully run a knife along the edges. Place a plate on top, then quickly flip over and lift the pan to reveal your flan. Enjoy!
