Who can participate in Give Aloha?

All Hawaii 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations including churches, athletic teams and public schools are invited to participate. Groups that are not registered as a 501 (c)(3) organization may register through a 501 (c)(3) sponsoring agency that is affiliated with the group. Foodland reserves the right to refuse participation of any non-profit organization.

How do we participate?
All organizations must register from July 1-17. Registrations are accepted online. An IRS determination letter indicating that you are a 501 (c)(3) type organization must be submitted if you are registering for the first time.

When do we register?
The registration period runs from July 1-17.

Do customers have to be a Maika'i Member to donate?
Customers must be a Maika'i member and use their Maika'i Card to make a donation. Donations made without a Maika'i Card will not be matched. Customers who do not have a Maika'i Card may request one at checkout.

Is there a donation limit per customer?
Customers may make a donation to one or more organizations, up to $249 per organization, per Maika'i card. Donations exceeding $249 per person, per organization will not be matched.
Customers must make their donation using their own Maika'i Card. Customers may not make a donation on behalf of others nor use another person’s Maika'i Card to make a donation for them.

How much does Foodland match?
This year, Foodland will match each donation with at least $250,000 for all organizations combined. The matching gift will be divided proportionately among all participating organizations.

Can donations go towards an organization’s membership fees?
Membership dues, fees, tuition, and other payments for which goods and services are received in return are not considered donations. These payments will not be matched.

When will our organization receive our donations and matching gift?
All checks are disbursed by October 31.
