5 Ways to Use Kabocha
This week is all about kabocha (Japanese pumpkin). Don’t let it’s look fool you, this local fave is easier to cook than you think! Here are 5 ways to use Kabocha.
1. Cube It For Curry
Add chunks of kabocha to your favorite Thai or Japanese-style curry for extra creaminess. Check out Chef Keoni’s tips on how to prepare kabocha.
2. Slice and Braise
Cut into 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices and braise to bring out its sweet, nutty flavor. Try our Kabocha with Soy Ginger Glaze recipe for an easy side dish
3. Veg It Up
This hearty squash is a great meat substitute. Our Spicy Pumpkin Chili makes for a meatless dish that’s sure to satisfy.
4. Mash It Up
Steam or roast, then mash or blend into a puree. Perfect for cozy soups like our 5-ingredient Curry Roasted Kabocha Soup with Ginger and Coconut Milk.
5. Save The Seeds
Kabocha seeds are edible – just scoop them out and roast for a crunchy, healthy snack.
