Blue Cheese Bacon Burger

A fresh take on the Classic American Burger

Servings 4 Burgers

Ingredients  

  • 1.5 pounds 80/20 ground beef
  • 0.75 cup bleu cheese crumbles
  • 8 slices thick-cut, applewood-smoked bacon (or your favorite bacon), cooked
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 4 units Kaiser rolls, lightly toasted
  • 4 Manoa Lettuce
  • 8 slices Vine-ripened Hamakua Tomato
  • 4 slices Maui Onion
  • Dijon Mustard or Dijonaise

Instructions 

  1. Shape 4 patties with your hands, making them just larger than the diameter of the buns.
  2. Cover with plastic and set aside in refrigerator.
  3. Preheat grill to high.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper and place on hot grill.
  5. Cook for 3 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  6. Place hot on toasted Kaiser roll. (Spread mustard on ahead of time.)
  7. Layer with two slices of warm bacon, sprinkle with bleu cheese, then layer with lettuce, tomato and onion.

Notes

Serve with BBQ sauce or avocado on the side.
