Thai Green Papaya Salad

A fresh flavorful salad that has an exotic spicy kick!

  • 1 tablespoon dried shrimp
  • 2 Thai chiles or Hawaiian chili peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.125 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 0.5 pound grated green papaya


  1. Crush the dried shrimp with the chiles and garlic cloves, then whisk in the lime juice, fish sauce and the sugar.
  2. Toss the dressing with the papaya and serve.
  3. Adjust seasoning with lime juice, fish sauce and sugar.


This is a basic recipe. There are variations on this dish which can include chopped peanuts, cilantro, tomatoes, and sliced green beans.
